About Us

Everything started in August 2020, when the owner Gui Pizzolato based in Black Mountain, in the beautiful Okanagan Valley - BC, decided to start a local company called Black Mountain Amplifiers Inc. (Doing business as Black Mountain Custom Amps). Gui started offering guitar amp repair services locally but quickly evolved into custom builds and modifications. Very few custom amplifiers were built using the "Black Mountain" because after the first year of operations Gui decided to separate his amp building business from his amp repair one and this is how he started the Pizzolato Amplifiers brand. Gui still runs his local repair shop as "Black Mountain Amplifiers Inc.".
Here's a bit more history on how Gui came up with the first Black Mountain Amplifier design: 2021 was a challenging one for everyone, specially for musicians who had to cancel big tours, small gigs, band practices and even the good old jams. Many musicians have been stuck at home and having to reinvent themselves, playing at home, giving online lessons and doing live streams on social media. With that in mind, we designed an exclusive line of high-quality, hand-wired, low-wattage tube guitar amplifiers that allow the guitarist to play at lower volumes without compromising the guitar tone. We know there are many amplifier options out there, however, there are not too many tube amps in the 5-12W range out there, and most of the hand-wired "boutique style" amplifiers in that power range are exact copies of vintage models. Our concept is a bit different, we wanted to have our own exclusive low-wattage alternative that is not a one trick pony, like the infamous Tweed Champ for example, but a very versatile amplifier that is perfect for recording studios, bedroom practice and even small to mid size gigs. Our price is definitely not in the lower range, but is not at the top either. We strive to offer a product that is top quality and versatile for a reasonable price. Click on the link below to learn more about Gui.

Guilherme (Gui) Pizzolato

Founder and Sole Amplifier Builder :)

Gui is originally from Brazil. His education background is in Civil Engineering (Brazil) and Accounting (Canada) but his passion has always been music gear and music in general. Gui started building effects pedals in the early 2000s. He was playing in a classic rock band at the time but was always more interested in tweaking his guitar tone than actually performing. In fact, his bandmates used to make fun of him because every time they would look at Gui during a gig, they would see him reaching for his pedal or for his amp. One day, with the help of a co-worker who was an Electrical Engineer, Gui built his first guitar circuit ever. It was a very simple one transistor circuit from the 70s that he later tweaked until he found the perfect "recipe" for what became the basic overdrive circuit in his Black Mountain line of amplifiers.
